I've finally done it..

OK, I've finally decided to give video blogging a try. I've been hesitant because, quite frankly, I only wanted a video of me on this blog, not out in YouTube land where everyone and their dog might come across it. Makes me uncomfortable. So Blogger comes out with this feature to add video and I get all excited and film a short blogcast. Then when I try to upload it, it doesn't want to work for me. Go figure. So I finally caved in to the YouTube craze. We'll see how it goes.

The quality isn't great, but I'll work on fixing that. I filmed this with my digital camera, so it keeps trying to re-focus every time I move. Hope you don't get dizzy! LOL

So here it is. A quick review of a couple of frankenfoods. Tell me what you think? I'm an amature, so go easy on me. :0)

Amy,
You did just great! You sound confident, assured, calm, and in control! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks Adam! I have to admit I enjoyed doing it. I can see I'll probably need a web cam if I keep doing these though. The digital camera files are huge and I get less than 3 minutes for 100 mb. I'm just assuming it's the camera, but maybe I need editing software or somethings as well.

Loved your video!

Are you my twin? I also homeschooled my kids, eat low carb, and drink low carb shakes because I can't handle much food in the morning.

Great job! I look forward to seeing more videos from you!

Thanks Oceans and Dar!

Dar, you never know. They say everyone has a twin somewhere! :D

Great video, Amy.

Anyway, can we exchange links? I also have a website and a blog, still new anyway. I see that your blog is very useful and it will be great if you agree to our link exchange.

Thanks John! Would you mind leaving your blog link so I could take a look at it?

Great video blog!! It was nice to put a face and a voice to to my low carb friends!!! I enjoyed Jimmy Moore's and now yours!

I guess I am a dinosaur with all of this. I'm a technical person, just not ready to jump into all the video stuff myself just yet. It will probably be eons before I get there, I bet.

Also visited Jimmy's new forum and it looks like it is really full of great folks! Glad to see a bit of Christian focus at the site!

Thanks OC! (Is it ok if call you that? A lot of people call me SG.)

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to doing another one soon. Phew.. who am I kidding. I'm looking forward to doing ANY blogging soon. Things have been wacko!

Jimmy's forum is great and has the most wonderful people on it! Did you join?

I too have called and written to companies that make low carb bars who's net carbs don't add up. I also continually get the run-around. Often they say it is determined by professional dieticians in some scientific manner that they do not understand. My typical response is to ask to speak with someone in their lab. I have yet to speak with anyone who can explain the forumula.

I don't think that it is unreasonable to ask them to back the claims on their package. So, why is it so hard to get the info? I have a feeling that these companies are intentionally vague because they are stretching the legal limits to make their claims.

As for cravings for chocolate. I've given up most sugar free chocolates (except dove). I avoid them because of sugar alcohols.

I find that many dark chocolates have very few net carbs. It's real sugar but in small doses. I eat a square or two daily.

Big Daddy D,
You are probably right about them stretching it as far as they can. Kent Altena (I hope I spelled his last name right) pointed out that there might be glycerin in them. Sure enough.. it's the second ingredient. That probably accounts for most of the carbs, but it still doesn't make me 100% comfortable with the counts. I want FULL DISCLOSURE!! :0)

I may be posting this twice, the window flickered. Just ignore one.

I was in WalMart about a year ago and starving. So I went and grabbed an EAS bar. A glance at the label revealed High Fructose Corn Syrup! It really made me mad. I cannot eat HFCS due to a form of colitis. It kills me. Thank God I checked the label, they USED to be a safe food.

Re the upload thing, it took me about four times longer to upload to Blogger than YouTube. I thought I was going to have to go the YouTube route too. Try, if you can, in non-peak hours like in the morning. I'm looking forward to your next one!

I'll probably be doing another this evening. Bruno fancies himself the host, which is just as well, he's a showboat.

I quit eating the EAS bars a few years ago when they changed the taste. YUK! I always read the labels and check for hidden junk. The EAS shakes and The Atkins bars do not contain HFCS or any other suspicious ingredents, so at least those are usable when the need arises.

I tried uploading to blogger and it would get to 100% and then do nothing. I'd wait and wait. I finally gave up on it.

Your Bruno is a cutie!!
