God Still Answers Prayer

Last night God answered prayer for me, and He did it quickly! I promised Him I'd be sure to publicly praise Him for it, so here I am.

I have severe acid reflux. Without my meds I get chest pains and usually vomit. Thanks to low-carb I rarely need my meds anymore. About 6 months ago I had a minor episode and took my last pill. With no insurance, getting a refill is tough on my budget. A month's supply will cost me about $120 so I keep putting if off, thinking I can get by without it.

So last night I'm asleep and it hits me like a ton of bricks. I prop pillows up behind me and try to do some deep breathing to help with the pain. It progressively gets worse and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to make a run for the bathroom. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the worst attacks I've had in years. And here I am with no meds. (Usually I can take my meds and the pain will be gone in about 5 minutes and I can lay down and go back to sleep. )

So all I can think to do is pray. I start asking God to heal me and make the pain go away, to make the nausea go away. Then I start thanking Him for what He's going to do for me. While it shouldn't surprise me, it always does when he answers my prayers. I feel so unworthy of His time, but then I guess we all do. Anyway, In less than a minute the pain ebbs away and the nausea starts dissipating with it. By around the 2 minute mark it's as if it had never happened! I was able to lie right back down and go to sleep without any problems. Normally, without meds, I would have suffered for at least a couple of hours before it calmed down again. This whole episode lasted all of maybe 10 minutes thanks to God's merciful hand.

I know this isn't a big thing to most, but to me it was tremendous. I would have spent a good amount of time suffering last night if it hadn't been for God's touch.

I have others stories that have happened to me that I could share that would boost your faith, but I'll share them another time. Right now just remember that God can do anything, and He cares about ALL our problems, big or small.

I love it when God does stuff like this. There are times when we learn more how to depend on Him by going through struggles...and that's important.

But when he answers prayer like this, it makes us worship him in new ways.

Yes it does Justin. I have such a newfound excitement for serving God today. I guess He knew I needed something to encourage me. :0) I've been in a bit of a spiritual slump as of late. But I've felt Him calling me to draw closer to Him and I'm trying to do so. Last night was horrible and wonderful all at the same time.
