It's the BIG ONE Martha!!!

Déjà Vu! Ok, technically that's not the correct term since it means the sensation of experiencing something again, but it's actually the first time. But here's the story:

About 20 minutes 'till one a.m. I was shaken awake. Hmm... seems like that just happened to me recently. Anyway, this one wasn't as forceful or as long as the one that hit early Friday Morning. It did wake up my son though, who slept through the first one. Go figure. He came in my room with wide eyes and said "Do you feel that?" I said "Yep. Feels like another earthquake. It's ok, you can go back to bed." He told me goodnight and went back to his room.

I checked the internet this morning to see if there was anything about it on the news. Buried under some other headlines I found this:

Magnatude-4.5 aftershock reported from Midwest earthquake

It looks like there have been a total of 18 of these since Friday. Weird. It makes me wonder if the Earth is trying to warn us that the big one's a comin'! I know very little about earthquakes so I am by no means an authority. This is just my completely uninformed and doomsday-ish theory. :0p

Northern Nevada's had a bunch of small earthquakes lately, mostly around 3.2 or so. I haven't felt them as they've been about 75 miles away. But that's a weird coincidence.

I'm planning a "You know you're a redneck if..." pictorial.

I've never tried DaVinci syrups, what do you do with them? (I really don't like sweets much).

Carol,
It turns out my "doomsday" prediction may not be too far from the mark. I recently learned the fault that caused these quakes is called the Wabash Faults. Relatively close to that fault is another called the New Madrid faults.

"The New Madrid fault zone produced a series of mammoth quakes in 1811 and 1812 that reached an estimated magnitude 7.0, the strongest known quakes to have occurred east of the Rockies. The quakes changed the course of the Mississippi River and were felt in New England."

A weather guy I watched from St. Louis said these smaller quakes should be taken as a warning that we need to be prepared. He said the New Madrid WILL go again and could produce a quake up to 8. When, they don't really know. it could be anytime or in several years.

As for Davinci, it's a sugar-free syrup used for flavoring and sometimes sweetening. I used the vanilla in all my recipes that call for vanilla extract. I also put the cherry in my diet rite. I use eggnog flavor for making low-carb eggnog, etc. etc. I also use it in baking and making foods like the mock danish. Torani also makes a good sugar free syrup.
