It's so bad...

Me: Economic times are so bad...

You: How bad are they?

Me: They are so bad that Wal-Mart is now selling flasks next to the checkout lanes along with the candy, toys and hand sanitizer.

Yes siree! Something for everyone in the checkout lane. Grab the kids some candy and toy, give the wife some hand sanitizer, and a flask for yourself to help you deal with all those bills you'll be looking at later today, not to mention the amount you'll owe the checker once he or she rings up your meager purchases.

Oh my, Amy, this is getting rough, isn't it? Wow.
I keep telling myself, "we're all in this together," because otherwise the magnitude of this mess we're in will make me totally blue.
So, Amy, hang in there--you're not alone in this.
Have a wonderful holiday, you and your family.
Adam

It is a mess Adam. But "this too shall pass", so I remind myself of that daily.
As for the flasks, I just could help but laugh when I saw them. I was like "What are those doing there???"

I hope you and yours have a fantastic holiday as well Adam!

LOL. Talk about niche marketing. The news was reporting last night that alcohol, tobacco, and chocolate sales go through the roof during economic downturns.

I agree with Suze Orman and Oprah that this mess is spiritually rooted. As a country we place too much value on material possessions and not our spiritual lives. We seem to be undergoing a global paradigm shift.

I agree Carol, as a whole our country is engrossed in materialism. While I'm not so much concerned about not being able to buy "things", I do worry about our ability to pay all the bills. My husband works in sales, so when sales go down, so does our income. It can really be scary at times.
