Wacky Wednesday

Happy Hump Day Everyone!!

Weight-loss has been non-existent for me. I've been so busy that I can't seem to make the time to eat properly. That is stopping as of today. I've printed off several new recipes and am going to do some prep work today to be sure I have the right foods on hand when I need them. No more eating on the run! And if I do need to eat on the go, I will be prepared.

Minor Subject change...

My children and I have been working on another video blog. We filmed the thing several times (I've lost count.. yeah.. THAT many times!) and we can't seem to get it to "come out" right. The one we tried last night is almost 13 minutes long! I'm afraid that's just a bit too much. What is sad is I probably edited out 2 or 3 more minutes, so it was longer. I think my biggest problem is the the kids distract me. I'm trying to think (and not say "uh" a billion times like I did in my last one) and they are looking at the webcam and making faces. This may be the only one I do with them, but I'm determined to do it because they have their hearts set on helping me with it. So...... hopefully someday soon I'll have it posted. Thankfully my new webcam came with software that allows me to edit, add titles, photos, and music. I'm gonna need it.

Sorta Subject change...

This blog has grown in ways I'd never imagined since I started it just over a year ago. We are quickly closing in on having our 10,000th visitor! To celebrate I will be giving away some low-carb items. I have a couple of the items now and am putting together the rest.. so keep watching for the announcement about it soon!

Major Subject change...

The photo I donated for the Silent Auction did well. I have not yet gotten the total, but I was told it was heavily bid on. Knowing that really encourages me. :0) I'll be sure to let you know what it sold for.

Have a great day!

1st Annual Sweet Tooth Gala & Silent Auction

Normally I wouldn't be promoting anything that's main event is sugar-filled desserts. But I have to make an exception in this case. The Sweet Tooth Gala is fundraiser to support Hole In The Roof ministries, which is located here in St. Louis. They provide a variety of important services to the needy in our area, including a food pantry.

On Oct. 2, at 6:30 pm they will start with a silent auction, which features some really great stuff. So far I've heard mention of Laser Teeth Whitening, Autographed St. Louis Rams mini-helmet, scuba diving, stained glass art, and much more. I'm also very proud to announce that one of my photos will be up for auction as well. I'm honored that my work will be among such great items and will benefit such a great cause!

No, I'm not gonna make you wait to see what I'm donating. Here is the finished product, ready for delivery to the auction. (I signed the photo as well in the lower right hand corner)

I really hope it does well for them.

At 7 p.m. they will open the Dessert Buffet, which will feature desserts from some of the city's best restaurants. It's free and open to ages 13 and up, so if you are in the area, I urge you to come and check it out! (I won't urge you to eat though.. lol) I would have loved it had they chosen something other than desserts to share. But they didn't ask for my input. :-)

Will I be going? Probably not. I don't think hubby or I would enjoy being around all the sweets and not try something. They are still a bit of a weakness for us both if we don't have lc desserts on hand. The other reason? I'd be mortified if my photo does poorly and I was there to witness it. I'd rather find out after the fact. I know.. that's negative thinking. Actually, it's the thinking of someone who isn't yet secure in her abilities. But I'll get there.

Wow.. is it Monday already?

It seems like lately time has just been flying by! I'm sure it's because I've had such a busy schedule. OK, where to start?

Weight Loss:

Nothing much to report. I've struggled with my eating somewhat and it's not all been low-carb. :0( But I'm back on track so things should start moving again. I've been stuck at 2.4 lbs above my ticker weight. I lost the .4 today. Hopefully tomorrow will show more loss.

Photography:

The voting part of the photo contest is now over. Thanks so much to those of you who took the time to vote! It means the world to me! I'll let you know how things turned out as soon as I hear something. The last I looked, which was a day before the voted ended, I was still in the running with all 3 pictures. They are supposed to notify the finalists soon.

I photographed my first wedding this weekend. Wow is that a lot of work! I was on my feet about 7 hours. My mom and I worked this wedding together and I think between the two of us we got some really good shots. I plan on putting my best shots on my website, so I'll let you know when those are up.

I'm excited to announce that a few of my photos are going to be auctioned off in a charity silent auction to benefit the down and out here in St. Louis. (we haven't worked out all the details yet, but should have know more soon) I'll be sure to post more information when it is available.

Health:

Sometimes I tend to forget I have fibromyalgia (Thank you low-carb!!!). Then I have a very busy and stressful weekend and I am quickly reminded. This weekend was very full - a church picnic, the wedding, Revival at our church, and a few other exhausting things all added up to my being fatigued beyond belief. Thankfully I have no pain and pray it stays that way. My fatigue should disappear soon, but it will take a lot of rest to make that happen.

Homeschooling:

This year has started out very well and the children and I are both very optimistic about it. The kids seem to really be enjoying themselves, and I'll admit I am too! We have a lot to figure out still, but we are learning together and having fun. Learning should be fun! Don't you agree?

OK.. gotta run. I'm gonna leave you with another wise saying:

Everything your mother ever warned you about it true.
