Slow to heal...

According to what the chiropractor told me today, shoulder injuries are slower healing than something like misalignment of the spine. I have to go back in Monday for another adjustment. I do have a bit more range of motion, and a bit less pain, than I did, so I guess that's something.

He gave me a large elastic band to do some shoulder exercises with. I'm to use as much range of motion as I can without pain. 10 reps of 4 different exercises, twice a day. Oh the joy of it all.

I don't know if I'll try getting on the treadmill today or not. I usually swing my arms while I walk. Yesterday the idea of swinging my arm was not appealing. I didn't even try. Today I might give it a go and see how I do. I'm trying to keep loose, since I know my muscles will just tighten up and hurt if I don't. Last night I was so tense from the pain that I ended up with a headache. I don't care to repeat that.

Do you do any yoga stretching?

I've several books about joint injuries and yoga and they all pretty much say the older the injury the longer the stretch. I've been using Yoga for Beginners (Ansari & Lark). It's a flip book, and has step by step instructions. Another book I have is for seniors, and that also gives gentle, relaxing stretches.

I have problems with several joints, mainly my back, and have to take things slow. My weights are low and my stretches gently but persistent.

When I was pregnant a couple of years ago I had bad problems with my ligaments being loose so I had to use these bands to try and strengthen my hip, pelvis, lower back areas to try and keep it from getting worse as I got bigger. They did help and I quickly went through all the different coloured bands so keep it up!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I've never tried Yoga. I may have to look into it. I did my exercises yesterday. It was tough, but I got through it. Glad to hear it helped you Sherrie, that gives me hope.

Last night was the worst night I've had so far. We went to the store and I had to just sit on a bench while my husband did the shopping. I hurt so bad it was all I could do not to cry. I took another Tylenol PM so I could sleep. I LOVE those things. They completely relax me and I don't hurt a bit while on them. Too bad they make me so tired, or I'd take them during the day too. :0)
