Happy Monday everyone!

Today is another very busy day here, so this will be short again.

I'm up about 2 lbs. But yesterday I was up about 3, so I'm working my way back down again. I'm going to keep my cals and carbs low today to get those other 2 lbs off quickly (It's just water anyway). Why am I up? I had an unplanned splurge. I made the mistake of letting myself get past the hungry mark (yes.. even in ketosis this can happen now and then). We went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner on Friday and I ordered my usual: A taco salad. I always tell them to leave out any beans and I dig it out of the shell so it will be low-carb. The problem was the warm chips and salsa sitting in front of me while I waited for my food to arrive. I LOVE warm chips and salsa. I kept thinking.. " I could just have a couple to get me by". Sadly, they weren't all stale and cold so that I would only eat one or two. They were warm and salty and way too good. :0( So I ate a little more, then a little more.. then they brought my other favorite.. guacamole dip. So I had more with that. The salsa and guac weren't my problems.. I can have those in moderation. It's those chips!!! I should never have taken even one bite. So here's the lesson in this kids - don't go there!

Words Of Wisdom for today:

"If you don't pay your exorcist, you get repossessed."

OK.. I have a yard sale to prepare for, floors to mop, laundry to do, and kids to shower my love on, so I'd better get started. Have a great one!

With regards to the Mexican restaraunt chips, I know the feeling. My wife and I eat Mexican frequently and simply ask them to not bring any chips. But when I go out with non-dieters on business trips, it's hard to not eat the chips. Allowing one or two simply opens the doors for more...

If you can forego the chips, then there are usually many good steaks and chicken dishes often smothered in cheese. Much of the time, you can talk them into substituting guacamole or salad for the rice and beans.

My kids love the chips.. it's their favorite part of going to a Mexican place, so I don't ask them to keep them away. What is different about this time is I can usually resist them, but I just let my hunger get the best of me th is time.

I love to order fajitas and eat it w/o the tortillas (or better yet bring my own lc tortillas and use them!)

Ooh the evil, evil chips. They've been my downfall, too.

This year while on vacation, we made guac and homemade salsa. I grilled up some chicken breasts, cut them into strips, and used them for dipping.

But I sure understand when you're hungry at a restaurant and they're sitting right in front of you! Every time I "indulge" in high-carb, I spend 3-5 days with cravings. Its just sooo not worth it. But tell my mind that when I'm hungry & they're sitting there...

Thanks for the idea on the chicken strips Lisa! I'll have to try that.

I'm not having cravings, but I'm having to work of the water I'm retaining now, instead of making progress with new numbers. ugh.
