Angels On Earth

As I write this post, I am overcome with emotion. Two very special people in my life did something for us that I will remember until my dying day. I'm not going to mention their names, because I don't want to embarrass them, but they are probably the most selfless people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

They are angels on earth.

I'll give you the short version...

As I have mentioned before, things here have been very stressful. Something I couldn't talk about because of my husband changing jobs. (You never know who might be reading this, so I couldn't start giving details before he'd even talked to his boss.)As I explained in the last post, his last day at this company is upon us. We expected to sail through this transition because of his quarterly commission check. Sadly, his check didn't turn out to be what we were expecting. It was only about 1/3 of the amount we normally get. It was upsetting and distressing, but we knew we'd manage somehow. God always takes care of us and we do our best to trust in Him, especially during such trying times. I guess God decided it was time to dump a blessing on us in a huge way, and he used two marvelous people to do it.

Today in the mail I received the most wonderful card from them. And while that was an encouragement in itself, it was only the beginning. They also included two nice gift cards. One to Wal-Mart and the other to one of our favorite restaurants. I smiled and told my husband how very sweet this gesture was. (I hadn't yet fully read the card.) He agrees and then says, "Honey, I think there is something else in there. It looks like a check."

I look down and it is indeed a check. I opened it and abruptly dropped it as my hand flew to cover my mouth. I couldn't believe my eyes. My husband picks it up and he smiles. I look at it again and I burst into tears. My husband's eyes started tearing up as well. My children were a little confused. Is mommy happy or sad?

The check was made out for enough money to buy the camera I've been needing for my business and still leave us money left over. I really needed this camera for a shoot I'm doing this weekend, as well as another coming up this month. But I was going to just do my best with what I had. As I attempted to read the rest of the card, they explained that they felt God wanted them to help us in this way. I'm still in shock. Who does this anymore? Who gives so much of themselves, in so many ways I might add, and expects nothing in return? This just isn't done in today's society. But I understand what they are saying and how they feel. There have been so many times I've wanted to help someone, and would have gone to the ends of the earth to do so if I had the means. It's an amazing feeling to know you've been a blessing in someone's life.

My family and I have always counted their friendship an honor. It's been something we've treasured. But now words fail me. Thank you just doesn't seem adequate. It's not enough. I need a word that says so much more, but I don't think one exists. I don't think I'll ever be able to express my gratitude. So I'll end with this:

You know who you are. And we've always felt a special bond with you both. We pray for you often, as we know you pray for us. We are asking God to bless you beyond measure for your unfathomable kindness to us. It is by far more than we deserve. We love you.
