Not sure about today...

Hi gang! I have several topics I'd dearly love to cover today, as well as talk about another great prize we are offering this month in the giveaway. Sadly, I'm not too sure how far I'll get. Last night something went wrong with my back/shoulder/neck. I bent down to put something in the cabinet and heard a strange sound come from my shoulder area. The next thing I knew it hurt in my neck and shoulder when I tried to use my arms or move my head. I immediately took ibuprofen to help with pain and inflammation. This has helped me with this in the past. Yeah. Unfortunately I'm not new to this problem, as some of you may remember from my posts here and here back in June. It's the same side and everything, so my rotator cuff is probably out again. I had a disc problem several years ago that required meds and physical therapy. Ever since then I've had these episodes on rare occasion.

So anyway, the ibuprofen isn't helping. I got very little sleep last night because I couldn't get comfortable and it hurt every time I tried to move. Needless to say, sitting at the computer isn't exactly comfortable right now. I don't want to aggravate it so I'm probably going to take it pretty easy today and see how it goes. I may have to get myself to a doctor if I don't start loosening up soon.

Summation: I'll get something up for you all later today if my body will allow me. If you don't hear from me today, it might be Monday before I'm able to do much posting again. I'm sure I'll be fine by then. I usually am better within a few days as long as I don't' push it.

Either way, I'd appreciate prayers for healing.

Quick Update

I'm short on time, as has been the case a lot lately. I just wanted to give you all a quick update.

I'm feeling somewhat better today. I have been suffering from fibromyalgia symptoms all week. The stress of the last week has been a huge issue. It's starting to calm down I think. My eating is horrid right now. With FMS you tend to be very fatigued and fuzzy headed. I have no energy to cook so we've been eating not-so-healthy-but-easy-to-fix meals. I'm sure I've gained a little from it all. Hopefully I will be back to my old self soon.

Sadie is doing a bit better. She's actually eating again, although she only eats if I feed her. That's made things a bit rough, but eventually she'll start eating on her own again. Her meds are kicking in and she's a bit more active than before as well. All good signs. We've decided to skip the surgery. All the reports I've read say that it adds very little extra time to their lives and that the tumors just come back in a matter of months anyway. I'm not going to put her through the stress of all that just to deal with it again. We'll do our best to give her the best life possible as long as we can. If she starts suffering and we can't alleviate it, then it will be time to make the hardest decision a pet owner can make. But for now I'll focus on the present and enjoy what time we have left with her.

Here are a couple of pictures of my daughter feeding Sadie her Duck Soup (which she really seems to like now):

You all have a wonderful weekend. I'll see you Monday.

June 22, 2007

Down another 8/10ths of a lb today. I'm so close to seeing the 160's again!

My wonderful hubby rubbed the biofreeze all over my shoulder and arm last night. I also took a Tylenol pm before I went to bed last night. I helped me sleep, which is always a good thing. I'm feeling a bit better today. I still hurt, but it doesn't seem as bad as it did last night. Hopefully my adjustment today will take care of the rest of it. I'm still pretty groggy from the Tylenol and I'd love to go back to bed, but I can't. My appointment is in about 2 hours and I'm afraid if I went back to bed I wouldn't wake up for quite a while.

I'm super sensitive to medications. I can easily get loopy. NyQuil will KO me for a couple of days.. and that's only taking one dose. If I took NyQuil as often as recommended on the packaging, I'd be in coma.

Funny story on that: My daughter was born c-section. Afterwards I was on morphine for the pain, for about 3 days. I remember my FIL sitting in the room trying to talk to me once. I was attempting to eat breakfast but kept falling asleep before I could ever the the spoon to my mouth. Naturally, he thought it was hilarious.

I have vague recollections of them bringing my daughter into me for feedings.. They couldn't keep me awake long enough to be of any help, which meant all of her first meals were bottle fed. The pediatrician came in the room to discuss my daughters heart problems and I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. It's really funny now.. but it was awful then.

Finally my OBGYN came in to discuss some things with hubby and me. I couldn't stay awake and he asked hubby if I was ok. Hubby explained to the man my reactions to OTC meds, like NyQuil, and the Dr. said he'd better get my meds changed asap. They promptly took me off of morphine and gave me a much lighter pain killer. While I barely remember the first 3 days, I can give you details about day 4, 5 & 6 of our hospital stay. I can also tell you that coming down off of 3 days of morphine gives you one bugger of a headache.

Enough of that.

Hope you all have a great day. I'll be back when I can.
